Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in television, film as well as theatre. Contractor, who was raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was seven, had traveled around all over the world and had a taste of various cultures while growing up. At the age of seven until nine, Contractor attended boarding schools in London. Her family relocated to Toronto which she stayed in throughout her early years. Contractor studied and became an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. The Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public school for high schools that is specialized in arts), Contractor studied both the theatre and dance. Contractor began her acting career at 16 and was a part of the theater for a decade after spending ten years of dancing. After she had completed high school, she won an entire scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and was also a double major in sociology and psychology. After a single year at University, Contractor went to an open audition for the play Pericles at the world-class, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the leading role. After 92 performances, she received praise from the audience. The play was deemed one of the most successful productions in Canada by reviewers. The actress accepted an invitation to attend Stratford's conservatory, a program that allows only four males and eight women are able to take the 20-week crash course of classical theater. Contractor's place in the following production was secured, and she was chosen in the play as Hermia.
